There are few things I enjoy as much as traveling. Scratch that, There is NOTHING I enjoy as much as traveling. My love of travel was instilled in me by my parents, who made sure we had as much travel experience as we possibly could. My parents knew that traveling as a child matures you. Being exposed to as many new experiences and cultural exposure can change you, grow you as a person, as a citizen of the world and make you a more well rounded person. They understood that experiences are so much more valuable than things.
Now, with my children who are both teenagers, I am trying to pass on some of the same lessons to them that my parents taught me. I am intentionally getting them addicted to travel. Hopefully they will see more of the world than I ever will. Some may disagree but we don't limit our trips to only when school is out because we believe that school is important but you will always learn more about our world traveling and experiencing different cultures than you ever will in a classroom.
The wonderful thing about learning through travel is that it continues throughout your life. You're never too old to learn about new places, people and cultures. It's never too late to try new foods and take on new adventures.
One of my favorite parts of traveling is sharing the experience with family and friends. Through The Traveling Yinzers, I hope to make new lifelong friends to explore new places and go on new adventures with. Maybe you want to travel with friends or show your family the world. Either way, if you are from the Pittsburgh area, I'm betting we can all help each each other accomplish our travel goals.
